Project Description:

I Love A Parade explores the transformation of the urban landscape into an assembly point for action and celebration. Two screens display live video mixes of parade imagery accompanied by a live audio performance by Lewis Kaye. The scene is completed by the recreation of a parade route, and the passage through that route by a mini-parade float being pulled by a mysterious figure on a tricycle. I Love A Parade invites you to join the performers in this recreation of the parade's happy ambiance, all the while questioning the forms and components of public spectacles.

"On ordinary days we each walk alone or with a companion or two on the sidewalks, and the streets are used for transit and for commerce. On extraordinary days - on the holidays that are anniversaries of historic and religious events and on the days we make history ourselves - we walk together, and the whole street is for stamping out the meaning of the day." - Rebecca Solnit: Wanderlust, A History of Walking.
